Mariya's First Growing Post

1/2 + 1/6 or 1/4 + 7/12

1/2 = 30 minutes
1/6 = 10 minutes
30 + 10 = 40

1/4 = 15 minutes
7/12 = 35 minutes
35 + 15 = 50

1/4 + 7/12 is larger than 1/2 + 1/6

i'm using anne's and jenna's bikeathon picture.

i know anne and jenna got their answer wrong but i get how they got it. instead of dividing 60 by 8 , they just put the fraction as 1/8. and for the rest, i think they just divided everything else by 60...

6. http://www.learningplanet.com/sam/ff/index.asp
for this game, its like memory. what you have to do is that you have to match the equivalent fractions. for every level, it gets harder and harder. also, you are getting timed each round.

7. i think how anne and jenna calculated the positions for the twelth, six and third was that they counted by three's. ( what jenna told me on my comment )

8. - to find 1/4 of 16 is that you divide 16 by 4 which equals to 4 and that equals to 1/4.
( 16 / 4 = 4 ) ( 1/4 of 16 = 4 )
- to find 3/4 of 16 is you can divide 16 by 4 which equals 4 and that equals to 1/4. next, you can multiply 4 by 3 to get twelve. once you do that, you can add 12 and 4 together to get 16... ??

9. wendell ate a half of his candy bar. jacqueline ate 1/4 of her/his candy bar. jacqueline ate more than wendell. prove that this questions is right.

i dont think this is right. i think that wendell ate more than jacqueline did. i think wendell did because, if 1/2 = 50% and 1/4= 25%. if you compare the two fractions, 50% is larger than 25%.

I gave you a 28 because on question number 4/5 you could have explained more. Also on question 7 , me and anne didn't divide we just counted by 3's >.< . On question 8 i don't really get when you say "to find 1/4 of 16 is divide 16 by 4 which equals to 4 and that equals to 1/4." I also think you were to hard on marking yourself and i think you deserve a better mark. ^_^

You did a good job doing your first growing post. You explained it very well especially the thing that we have to do in paint (your drawing). Keep it up for our next blogs.
