i picked 1/2 and 7/12. to determine what is larger you have to convert them into lowest common denomenator. since 12 is divisible by 2 you dont have to change 7/12. if you convert 1/2 to 6/12. you can now compaire it very easy since they have the same denomenator. and everybody knows 7 is larger than 6. So therefor, 7/12 is larger than 6/12 (1/2)

i pick 4/7 and 6/7. i think that 6/7 is larger than 4/7. i think its larger because if you shade in 6 pieces, you will get more. if you shade in 4 pieces, you will get less .

I chose 3/4 and 3/7. In class, we discussed that the bigger the denominator, the smaller the piece and vice versa. Come to think of it. They have the same numerator but different denominator. So, that means that 3/4 is bigger than 3/7. There is also another way to determine which is bigger. If you change these two fractions into its decimal form, 3/4 is equals to 0.75. That means 75% of the piece is 3/4 while in 3/7 is equals to 0.42857143. Imagine how small that is. Is shows that 3/4 is bigger than 3/7. You can also get the answer by drawing a diagram.
