I understand now how to compare fraction if there bigger or lower. the fraction is easy to understand because it show the picture of a fractions.

i thought you have to explain how it was done, how come its just the pictures with no explaination?
its really easy to compare fractions one thing is we had this topic a long long time ago,,,,pictures is really good but i use LCD (least common denominator) to help me more which is bigger by making the denominator the same like what i said to jordan...mr. h knows that, it is like adding fractions with different denominator...
todays class was so educational. it taught me how to deal with improper fractions, equivalent fractions, and ways to find out which fraction is larger. i also learned that any improper fraction is always larger than a proper fraction. // the bigger the denominator. the smaller the fraction, BUT if the numerator is less than the denominator by 1, it is considered as a bigger fraction, than if the numerator is less than half of the denominator.
in comapring fractions, it is really important to use pictures...i understand this lesson because of the pictures...i learned how to compare proper and improper fractions in today's class...=)
in doing fractions, you should draw a picture (rectangle) because number doesn't help that much. but always remember that if the decimal is under 1 you have to multiply it by 100. and the fractions uses units. (:
In fraction, the size of the whole matters. For you to be able to compare it, you should draw a rectangle (it's the best way to compare fraction) whisch has to be equal in size. If you draw the one rectangle big and the other is small, it wouldn't be fair that's why the size of the whole matters. You can also compare it by getting the decimal point of the fraction. But drawing is easier. Well, good job fellow classmates. You did it well. But why some of the activities doesn't have answers?
I learned how much an improper fraction is. I never knew that. I also learned that making pictures is more easier to understand when solving a fraction question. I also learned that if you have 2 fractions and their denominators is diferent, you find their common denominator and that number will be the denominator.
the picture helps alot. but then if you do it in your head its hard to find what 5/8 is, out of 100. because 100 divided 8 = 12.5 then you have to times that by 5 to get the answer = 62.5 it is only easier if the whole is divisible by 8, like an 80. 5/8 out of 80 is 80 / 10 = 8 x 5 = 40.
