I used a Ratio Table and Circles (Pizzas). Another way is I noticed... Group number 2 for example. 4 Pieces each. 5 kids 4 pizzas. Slices it 5 ways evenly (Look at the 5 kids). Then they got 4 each (Look at the 4 pizzas)

The group who got the largest portion of the pizza was the group 1, as you can see the illustration in my voicethread the group has the largest portion while the 4th group got the smallest portion because the many you are the smaller portion you could get. Since the 1st group had the fewest number of person the divisions of portions they would get are larger.


*What strategies did you use in finding your answer?

The strategies I used used were the fraction illustration and the ratio table.

The stratigies used were ratio table, multiplication and also divison.

At first with the betty's snack mix problem I used a ratio table and times it by five which got me 12 cups and 18 dollars. Next Idiveded both by two. after that I divided the numbers I got by two again. later I divided the 1 cup and $1.50 by 3 and got one half cup and 75 cents.

for this one I just did the stratigie in clock form and did the numbers of how many it would be in a clock and I added it all togther and got an hour and 7 minutes.

Ashlee's 2nd Growing post





Question 1.




a) First question I multiplied. For the second question I divided.





b)I multiplied 3.60x12=43.20 that is the price, then the second one I divided 3.60/2=1.80 then after I was done with that I divided the container into portions equally for both.





c) I could have used a ratio table for the questions.





d)I took 2 2/5 and multiplied it by 5. Then took the 12 and divided it by 2 which gave me the size of the cup. Then I did the same thing but only with the prices like the picture before.

The strategies that were needed to solve this problem were the ratio table, division, and multiplication. I also used the clock method.





2.) How did you use the strategies?
By using a ratio table or the clock method I could easily figure out how to get the price and the other information given on the test.For an example (on a ratio table): I took 2 2/5 cups then multiplied it by 5 to get 12 cups . I then did the same thing for the price. 2 2/5 cups was $3.60 so then you multiply that by 5 since you multiplied 12 by 5 then you get $18.00.

You can use this strategy to find out the answers to other amounts for diffrent sized containers.




4.) How would you figure out the price of the 6 cup bag of Betty's Snack Mix?
You can use a ratio table. Since we know that 2 2/5 x 5 is 12 and the price of 12 cups is $18.00. You now just divided 12 by 2 to get 6 then do the same thing with the price. Since we know that $18.00 is the price of 12 cups, you just divide 18 by 2 to get how much it is for 6 cups which would be $9.00

Chelsey's 2nd Growing Post

Question #1





1.) The strategies I used were division, multiplication and a T Chart -- to find out the the cost and the amount of ingredients per cup.


2.) I used these strategies by first making a T Chart and then dividing the 2 2/5 which was $3.60 by 2 to get the answer and then kept multiplying and dividing until I got the answer for half a cup and 6 cups.


3.) You could have used the same strategies (multiplying and dividing) still the same way but without using a T Chart. It just would have been harder and not as organized but it would still work.




4.) As you can see in the picture I found out the price of a 6 cup container of Betty's Snack Mix by multiplying 2 2/5 by 5 to get 12 cups (price $18.00) then I divided that by 2 and got 6 cups and the price was $9.00



5.) The 3 other values I got as you can see on the chart were 1 cup, 3 cups and 12 cups. I got the answer for 1 cup by multiplying 2 2/5 by 5 and remember whatever I did to one side I did to the other then I divided 12 by 2 to get 6.

I divided 6 by 2 to get 3, then I divided 3 by 3 to get 1 cup with a cost of $1.50.I got 3 cups by first multiplying 2 2/5 by 5 to get 12 then divided 12 by 2 to get 3 cups and got a price of $4.50.

REMEMBER whatever I do to one side I do to the other. To get 12 cups I times 2 2/5 by 5 and did the same thing to the other side to get a price of $18.00.

What strategies were needed?
For me, the strategies that were needed in this test were the ratio table, multiplication, and division.


How did you use these strategies?


By using the ratio table, you can easily figure out how to get the price, and the total amount of the ingredients needed in a given amount of container. The multiplication and division can help too. You can get the unit price and ingredient for a unit by using division. And then if you have the things for a unit, you can get any other numbers that you want by multilying everything by the number you want to get.

We know that 12 cups of BSM costs $18.oo, the 6 cups costs $9.00 and 1 cup costs $1.50. I used these things to figure out how much it costs when i want to buy 4 cups, 3 cups and 2 cups of BSM. Here's what I did.
