Jenna's BOB

What i know all about surface area and the volume of a cube and rectangular prism:

Surface Area (SA): The extent of a 2-dimensional surface enclosed within a boundary.
Volume (V): The amount of space that and object or substance occupies.

To find out the surface area, first you have to make it into a net.
Find out the area of the top and bottom (L x W)
Find out the area of the front and back (H x L)
Find out the area of the sides (H x W)

To find out the Volume, you use the formula L x W x H

L = 5cm

W = 3cm
H = 10cm
- 5cm x 3cm x 10cm
V = 150 cubic cm

Jenna's Pythagoras Growing Post

Part 1:

A Pythagorean Triple is a right triangle that uses a set of numbers (1, 2, 3, etc) that satisfy a2 + b2 = c2.
(no decimals)

<--- This is a Pythagorean triple. You can label each leg A or B, it doesn't matter which, but the hypotenuse is always labelled as C. (you can tell which is the hypotenuse because it is always opposite the right angle)

You can then place the numbers where the letters are. ( use numbers from perfect square chart )

Part 2:

Part 3:

You've just picked up a ground ball at first base, and you see the other team's player runnig towards thrid base.

How far do you have to throw the ball to get it from first base to thrid base, and runner out?

Part 4:

Mrs. Claire tells you that a right triangle has a hypotenuse of 13 and a leg of 5. She asks you to find the other leg of the triangle. What is your answer?

Jenna's 2nd Growing Post

Q1.
1) What strategies were needed?

The strategies needed were a ratio table, and maybe clocks and money.

2) How did you use these strategies?
I didn't really use any of these strategies. To find out the price and ingrediants for 12 cups, first i had to figure out how many times does 2 2/5 go into 12. Once i figured that out i multiplied the price and the ingrediants.

3) or How could you of used these strategies?
I could have used a ratio table. It might have been easier.

4) How would you figure out the price of a 6 cup bag of Betty's Snack mix? Use a ratio table

5) Find 3 other values (amounts of Snack Mix) that could be solved using the same ratio table. Find the $$ of your new container sizes.
